Now THAT was what you call a party! Still on a high from last night after Armani kicked off the Summer party season with the storming Summer Garden Live party that rocked Bond Street and beyond.
First, Londoners had their first day of real Summer weather - balmy, sunny and perfect for early evening drinks and relaxation. Then, Mr Armani and his very efficient team, stroll along and decide to rev up the temperature further with a party to celebrate Armani's Summer of Sport.
The vast cavernous Emporio Armani store on Bond Street had been cleared and inside were huge sporting graphics of stars as well as mannequins in Italian sport clothing (naturally). Italy are still doing rather well in Euro 2012 after all. Guests mingled drinking Laurent Perrier champagne or vodka cocktails while waiting for the music to start. Even the smoke machine setting off the alarm early on couldn't phase guests who were determined to carry on and enjoy the evening's action, hosted by Roberta Armani. And boy, what an evening it turned out to be.
This was the beginning of a series of live music performances celebrating a ‘Summer of Sport’ and unveiling the EA7 Emporio Armani global advertising campaign ‘Sense of Being’. Embodying the spirit of strong character and commitment that comes from passion and determination, the campaign is dedicated to 7 different disciplines, featuring athletes from water polo, boxing, fencing, to rhythmic gymnastics.
Portraits of sports talent taken from the book titled ‘Faces of Sport’ (2004) by Giorgio Armani were showcased during the evening in the ‘Faces of Sport’ exhibition and set the tone for the event.
The music event was held in the hidden garden in the Emporio Armani New Bond Street store. An evening of performances by Friendly Fires, Kyla la Grange and Delilah as well as a DJ set by Rizzle Kicks ensured that guests were rocking and rolling by the end of the night. Guests were a mixture of fashion and music insiders and included Douglas Booth, Freddie Fox, Tolula Adeyemi, Ben Grimes, Amber le Bon, Oona Chaplin, Vanessa Kirby and Jamie Campbell Bower.
Bring on Summer. Mr Armani has set the bar very high indeed.
